A local electric power development venture in Rwanda acquired the business rights for mini-grid electrification operations in two villages in Rwanda’s southern states. The company is implementing a PFI, and JCCP M received a request to find a Japanese company with an interest in the business.

Target Area

The project regions are located in the mountains, far from National Grid Lines. The Rwandan Government has a goal of delivering electricity to all citizens by 2024 and is planning numerous mini-grid operations. JCCP M supports the initiative and is assisting with the participation of Japanese companies.

In Discussion with Locals

Speaking to residents of the project regions, it has become clear the demand for electricity is extremely high, even in mountainous regions. These residents wish to live with electricity, and we at JCCP M support the initiative to make the dream a reality in the very near future.
